jGBM Heidelberg

Gruppenbild der jGBM Heidelberg

The jGBM Heidelberg consists mainly of Bachelor and Master students of the Departments of Molecular Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biosciences of the University of Heidelberg. Additionally we also have PhD students from EMBL, the BioQuant and the University of Heidelberg. We are the junior group of the German society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Heidelberg.
Our focus consists in networking with life sciences students within and outside of Heidelberg. Besides, we attend several symposia and conferences throughout the year to get into contact with pharma companies and well-known professors. Furthermore, we often organize institute and industrial visits. In 2017, we visited ETH and Novartis in Basel. In 2018, we organized a visit at Roche (Basel), EMBL (Heidelberg) and the Paul-Ehrlich Institute (Langen). Together with the GBM, we awarded the Master's Award of the GBM for the best master's theses of the courses Molecular Bioscience, Molecular Biotechnology and Biochemistry for the first time in 2017.

Our meetings:

We meet every two weeks on Wednesday at 18.30 in one of the seminar rooms in the ground floor of the Bioquant (INF 267). We always announce the dates in our "Group Meetings" tab above or on Facebook. Or write us an email at jgbm-heidelberg@gbm-online.de.
